...and in the evening, a fine Mediterranean dinner awaits you at Palmižana.
Now that’s what we call a vacation.
The history of Asclepius dates back to 1933. At that time, it was a cabin used by the owner's beekeeping family. It was rebuilt in 2018 and the refurbishing was completed in 2020.
We are particularly fond of Cottage Asclepius for two reasons:
1. Because it is located in the heaven on Earth called Pakleni Islands, that is Hell Islands.
2. Because not far from the house, in a field that is part of the property, busy bees have always made wonderful honey for this family. Beekeeping is passed down from generation to generation in the family of the owner of the house, so it is already part of a tradition that this family proudly cherishes.
Asclepius is situated at the very end of the Pakleni Islands. The entire estate stretches over approximately 2000m2, and there isn’t another house in sight. Zen comes guarantees, and Asclepius comes with the #trueluxury hashtag. There is an old, uninhabited village in the vicinity – Okorija – overlooking the southern side towards the island of Vis.
Asclepius itself covers 105 m2 and consists of a large living room, a kitchen, a dining room, a toilet, 4 bedrooms, and 4 bathrooms.
The ground floor houses the spacious open-plan kitchen, dining room, and living room, with three large glass doors overlooking the garden.
Two bedrooms are also situated on the ground floor and two on the upper floor, each with its own bathroom with a shower tray, as well as its own wardrobe. The ground floor bedrooms also have their respective exits to the garden.
On the upper floor, which spans over about 70 m2, you’ll find a sitting area as well, where you can enjoy your cup of coffee or tea. From there you have a great view of the islands in front as well as of the city of Split.
The beds in bedrooms on the upper floor can be separated to make them single, if needed.
On the ground floor you will find a huge homemade pear tree table, with a chandelier made of oars of the boat above it.
A huge garden with an open BBQ is all you will ever need on holidays, with bean bags, hammocks, deck chairs, garden chairs and a table for eight underneath an oak tree. Everything is set and done to make your holiday unforgettable.
The house is self-sustainable and has a solar power plant and a water tank. In the garden you will find a lot of authentic Mediterranean herbs, plants, and trees, including fig and olives.
The interior of Asclepius is modern and minimalist, the materials are all natural, the colors light and neutral, so nothing with divert your attention from the main star that brought you here – Mother Nature.
Asclepius offers a WiFi connection, but we suggest you dive into nature and simply disconnect from everyday obligations. Since the house is located at the very end of the Pakleni archipelago, there is nobody around and the house is inundated with foliage, so it is a kind of a stress-free zone. It gives you full privacy and full comfort, as well as all the natural miracles that Hvar has to offer. From beautiful sunrises with seagulls and crystal-clear turquoise sea, to the even more beautiful sunsets and dark skies full of stars. And that is not all. There are 101 very good reasons this place is named after Asclepius, a hero and god of medicine.
HOW TO GET TO THE HOUSE
You can take a speed taxi boat directly from Split Airport to Hvar island; the ride will last about one hour, and we can organize all the details.
Or you can go the regular way and take a shuttle or taxi from the airport (half an hour drive) to the port of Split. Jadrolinija and Krilo catamarans will take you from Split to Hvar. There is also a ferry to Stari Grad town 25 km from Hvar if you come by car. You can check the schedule and buy tickets online in advance, but Villas Hvar concierge Dalibor is there for any travel tips and help you may need.
Cottage Asclepius boat skipper will meet you in the port of Hvar town upon your arrival, drive you by boat (approx. 15 min) to the house and will be at your disposal. Also, on your departure, he will take you back to Hvar town. Both boat rides Hvar – Pakleni – Hvar (on arrival and departure) are included in your total price.
In any case, you first have to do some grocery shopping upon arrival because there are no shops at the island where the house is located - or we can do this part for you, if you wish so, just let us know in advance.
There is a possibility to order take-away meals from our local chef every few days (charged extra), take excursions to the island of Vis or other islands, rent boats, do wine tours, and diving, sailing, kayaking activities etc. can be arranged (charged extra). Visiting other islands depends on the weather forecast.
Our boat with a skipper is available (charged extra) if you feel like checking out the cafes, shops, and the buzz of Hvar or want to visit any of the other Pakleni islands or any other islands around Hvar, as well as to do some grocery shopping if you don't want to leave your peaceful haven. And who would want to?
Enjoy; we are sure this will be a holiday experience to remember.
