Cottage Features
Charming cottage Philotes was completely renovated in 2012. Philotes is actually traditional Dalmatian stone house converted into a contemporary, stylish property for rent.
The first thing that visitor’s will notice as they make their way to cottage Philotes is the authenticity of the building and surrounding houses. Beautiful massive stones make up the entire facade of this building in the same fashion as was done in the 15th and 16th centuries. It is only when visitor enter the house do they get surprised by the modern amenities and comforts that this property offers.
Outside of the home, guests can enjoy a sprawling garden covering 300m2. Outdoors, guests have access to the swimming pools, outdoor kitchen, lounge and dinning area. There is also an outdoor shower and separate bathroom for the guests to use. The view from the terrace looks down at the sleepy village of Jelsa only 2 kilometers away and the sea with surrounding islands.
The house is separated into separate sections that are not connected indoors and it has 80m2 of interior space.
As you walk into the house through a massive oak doorway, your attention is immediately drawn to the opposing wall where through the glass we get a glimpse of a small Mediterranean garden.
Taking two steps down you enter the main living room with kitchen. The kitchen is fully equipped will modern appliances making cooking easy and quick with induction cookers and multi-use microwave/convection oven. In the middle of the room is a large granite dining table and just past this is a small living room area with SAT TV and a large fireplace.
There are two separate bedrooms each with their own modern bathrooms. One bedroom includes a queen sized bed (160x200) while the other room has a custom made bunk bed system (120x200 and 90x200).
Since the bottom of this house was originally used as a wine cellar, the back of the house is partially underground. This keeps the temperature inside the house at a perfect temperature which means that air conditioning is not necessary, says the owner. Some of our guests agree with this statement, some do not! Don't say we didn't tell you.
Just outside the cottage there are stairs leading to a terrace which is completely hidden away from site. From the terrace you can enter the largest bedroom in the house. The bedroom is about 25m2 and has an in-suite bathroom.
This house is truly perfect for large groups and multiple families traveling together. Since it is located in the heart of the island and close to "civilization", it is great for those who like to have an option to leave the quiet village paradise every once in a while and enjoy all that nearby towns have to offer.
The entire village of Pitve is a protected site and exists today as it has since it was first inhabited; it is one of the oldest settlements on the island, made up of a lower (older) and upper (newer) settlement. The lower settlements has even been mentioned in the Illyrian era while the newer settlement was constructed in the 15th and beginning of the 16th century. Cottage Philotes is situated in upper Pitve with the views of the splendid landscapes.
All of the island's most beautiful south side beaches will be also at your fingertips. But, car is necessary!
