Cottage Features
If you are looking for idyllic heaven-on-earth kind of place, cottage Ceres is a perfect choice.
Cottage Ceres is a traditional Dalmatian stone house built around 1700. It was first renovated in 1936 and then again in 2008.
Cottage itself has 110m2 and is situated on the 20000m2 estate.
On the ground floor there is a rustic stone walled cellar with bar and bar stools all decorated in antique style same as the rest of the cottage. This spacious area can be used as a dining and living room (it is equipped with dining table, satellite TV, CD player), as well as an additional bedroom since there is a sofa bed for two people.
Even when the outside temperature reaches it’s highest it is rather pleasant inside due to the large stone blocks that offer protection from all the heat.
Separated from this area, but also on the ground floor there is a large bedroom with a double bed, additional sofa bed for two people and an associated bathroom with shower unit. From this area you can exit to the small terrace with table and benches surrounded by a lovely flower garden.
On the first floor there is a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with a massage shower and two double bedrooms. Since the house is on the slope and the first floor entrance is on the backside of the cottage there actually aren’t any stairs you need to climb to get inside.
This floor has its own separate garden and a terrace with open fireplace, table, chairs and benches and it is an ideal place for outdoor dining since it is roofed.
Just below this terrace there is another larger terrace, but this one is completely exposed to the sun. There is a steel swing there just perfect for relaxing and enjoying the magical sunsets.
A small outdoor stone paved pool is located on the grounds some 50 m from the house. The pool is surrounded by a flower garden and next to it there is a shaded bar, a hammock swing and some chairs. During night you can adjust the color lighting to create an amazing atmosphere.
This vast estate is on the private property so your intimacy and privacy is guaranteed same as the perfect view of the sea in front and a fascinating view of the stone cliff in the back. Furthermore, numerous vineyards, olive trees and healthiest possible foods at hand frame the whole estate. Picture perfect, is it not?
The owners, together with the whole estate, are a fine example of a traditional, sincere and modest Dalmatian spirit.
Cottage Ceres is a perfect place for all those who care not so much about the pool size and city proximity, but care rather about the beautiful nature, peaceful surroundings, crystal clear sea, relaxing walks and organic, fresh food.
The nearest larger town is Jelsa (13 km), while the closest restaurant and small store with basic supplies is in Ivan Dolac (3 km). The town of Hvar is approximately 45 km from the cottage.
Love at First Sight
The life he was living was the life he always imagined for himself.
Ceres had a big family who truly loved him and who helped him in all his endeavors. They owned a large farm a few kilometers away from the city and they managed to live comfortably off the land.
All members of the family agreed on one thing - they preferred working outside on fresh air rather than in stuffy city offices. They loved being in touch with Mother Earth, with the sun, rain and wind… They honestly enjoyed their life away from the whole big city bustle.
Each year they would take a long vacation together and Ceres often joked how their vacations were actually a family team building trips. The destination was different every year and they all had to pick a place together, however, that wasn’t a simple task and was often the cause of a family dispute.
But this year, something unusual happened – no quarrels, no disputes – they all wanted the exact same thing!
They decided to revisit the place where they went the year before and where they spent two incredible weeks.
Once again they went to the south side of the small paradise-like island in the Adriatic Sea.
We are not at all surprised by their decision.
