We are talking about an old, elegant, and noble lady. Her name is Nerites and she lives in the center of the town of Jelsa, in a beautiful old house with an amazing terrace, a private pool and a spectacular view over the old town and its bay.
Apartment Features
The apartment Nerites is a part of a traditional Mediterranean house that is located next to the sea in the very center of the town of Jelsa, or, to be more precise, on the left side of the town’s bay. The house dates back to the year 1800, which means that you will spend your holidays with style, in a house that has a rich and long history.
The apartment is located on the second floor of the house (the ground floor is occupied by the discrete owners). Once you enter the house, you reach the apartment by climbing 33 imposing stone stairs. The interior of the apartment covers 170m2.
After you enter the apartment, you will see the anteroom – on the right, the first door leads to a small toilet/washing room. The second door leads to the first bedroom with a double bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower tray.
If you go straight from the anteroom, you will reach a spacious open plan kitchen/dining room/living room area. That area is followed by another anteroom from which a door on the right leads to another bedroom with a double bed. Its private bathroom with a shower tray is located behind the door on the left.
In front of you there is a door that leads to the third bedroom with a double bed and a sofa bed which can serve as an additional bed for one person. This bedroom also has an en-suite bathroom with a shower tray, and an adorable small balcony that overlooks the apartment’s pool and terrace, along with the sea and the town of Jelsa.
The apartment is very spacious and bright, and is a combination of the contemporary and the old world. Many stylized, decorated and floral details can be found in the apartment, along with the details made of traditional Dalmatian lace – as it befits a refined, elderly Mediterranean lady. Personally, we like how the exuberant owner decided to play with the wallpapers. We also like the clear lines of the apartment. The apartment does not lack in warmth – from colors and light to many pieces of wooden furniture and stylized mirrors, Nerites has a very interesting, or, better yet, a very complex personality.
That specific personality of the apartment will be best understood once we go out through the entrance door and reach a small square in front of the house. Let us go a few steps back to the sea – there, right behind the stylized iron gate, is the outdoor part of the apartment Nerites, which covers the area of approximately 100m2.
There you can see a pool, a stone sundeck area, an equipped outdoor kitchen with a fireplace, a small bathroom with a shower tray, and above it all there is a spacious covered terrace overlooking the sea and the beautiful bay of the town of Jelsa. Naturally, the terrace has an outdoor dining table. The owners thought of everything, which is why in this area you have everything you need. We cannot help but wonder whether you will even go back to the apartment?
The terrace is located above the cocktail club Mojito, which means that the possibility of drinking a good cocktail without much effort on the most beautiful terrace in town is unquestionable.
Do not worry; Jelsa is not famous for all-night partying, which means that the possibility of having a good night’s sleep in the apartment Nerites is also unquestionable.
A nice feature of the outdoor area of the apartment Nerites is the possibility of seeing the terrace overlooking the promenade and the sea, and being seen on it, along with the possibility of enjoying in the privacy of the area with the pool, despite the very central location. That area has a very nice and practical position.
Two parking spaces are provided for the guests of the apartment on a public parking lot about 150 meters away from the house. Considering the fact that you are located in the very heart of the town, everything is at an arm’s length. The first beach is around 200 meters away, and if you long for a more crowded place (which we doubt), the town of Hvar is a thirty minute drive away.
