Hvar - a beach paradise whatever you are looking for.
With the sunniest island in Europe and some of the world's cleanest water, soaking up the rays is one of the most popular activities on the island, but where are the best beaches on Hvar?
The bad news is that this is an impossible question to answer.
The good news is that this is because there is so much choice, and it is possible to find the beach for you.
Hvar beaches regularly feature in lists of top ten, but the surprising thing is that different beaches attract these inclusions.
Hvar has a strong naturist tradition, once which was enhanced by CNN in 2011, when it named Jerolim as its number one FKK beach in the world. The tiny island was once more in the top FKK beaches earlier this year as Kordovon bay was included in Huffington Post's top 7 secret FKK beaches in Europe.
For picturesque beaches, few can match stunning Dubovnica on the southern shore just before the tunnel to Stari Grad, and its recent accolades include the Rough Guides top ten beaches in Croatia, which also included the sandy beach of Grebisce outside Jelsa.
Looking for a quiet romantic spot, with legendary potent powers? Head to the gorgeous little beach at Lucisce close to Sveta Nedjelja, where legend has it that it has fertile powers for couples looking to conceive.
Ultimately, however, there are beaches all over the island - sandy, concrete, rocky and pebbly.
Some are busy with facilities, some like Milna, Soline in Vrboska and Mina in Jelsa are ideal for families, and if you are looking for a little privacy, choose the wildness of the Kabal Peninsula, or head east where there are undiscovered bays aplenty.
