A stone mosaic, endearing flower pots, the smell of pine trees and a divine green panorama will enthrall everyone who chooses Ourea. The hill throne where this lovely 18th century lady came to reign will make you feel a bit silly, a bit in love and completely in tune with nature.
Ourea is located in the center of Donje (or Lower) Pitve. It is surrounded with other stone houses that in the old times used to be part of the traditional Dalmatian manor. A larger family would live in a manor, while brothers and their families lived in neighboring houses. Cottage Ourea has lived in harmony with its stone brothers and sisters for centuries.
The house has 95 square meters and was completely renovated in 2005, which can easily be noticed in its exterior, the wooden shutters and double entrance door, which lead to an intimate courtyard of 30 square meters paved in stone and abundantly lined with plants.
The daily part of the house is located right to the left, on the ground floor. A door that is always open in the summer leads us to a modern kitchen and dining room with a table for six. A stone archway brings us to the living room and the romantic sofa, and a small work area to the left – although we highly doubt that you would use it often in such a relaxing atmosphere.
A courtyard staircase takes us to the second part of the cottage on the first floor. Before the entrance, there is a nice little pleasure terrace with a coffee table to the left.
The first floor has two rooms and a bathroom with a shower unit. The room on the right (15 square meters) has a matrimonial bed (160x200), and the somewhat bigger room on the left (20 square meters) has a somewhat bigger matrimonial bed (180x200). For those who love to sleep under a slanted roof, a small wooden staircase leads from the room on the left to the attic, with an extra bed for one.
Cottage Ourea is ideal for a bigger family, a group of friends or two couples craving to relax and enjoy peace, greenery and intoxicating scents, whereas the barbecue in the courtyard will allow you to enjoy intoxicating flavors as well.
The whole cottage is a combination of stone, brick and colors, with many charming details such as a charcoal iron, an antique sewing machine and iron candlesticks that give an air of times past.
The closest town is Jelsa, which is 2 kilometers away; the closest beach is also 2 kilometers away, and all the beautiful beaches of the southern side of the island just a 10-minute drive from the cottage. If you wish to explore the wild nightlife, you can drive to the town of Hvar in about 30 minutes.
